Panzer IV ausf. A - 1/72
Name | Pz.kpfw. IV ausf. A /Kit # V72-07/ |
Producer | WSW, Germany |
Packing | small box but very sturdy, all parts sealed in plastic bags |
Type of kit | resin kit, non-existent or very small plugs |
Quality |
- one piece hull, fenders in place, all with very good detail, almost all the tools moulded in place but with good detail, opened driver and radioman hatches, but the hatches have no inner detail. - one piece turret, good detail, though not as good as the hull, commander hatch open, side hatches closed (for me, this is the main fault of this kit, as almost all the early war pictures show the panzer crews sitting in these opened side hatches – opening them will demand much carving and drilling, not an easy task) - well moulded, well detailed, early style road wheels - well moulded, well detailed, link and length tracks. The portion around both sprocket and idler wheel already in place around the back part of these wheels. You just have to glue the frontal parts: one of the best methods I have seen to solve this delicate problem. - idler wheel, simply exquisite, perfect, superb - sprocket, definitely not as good - some of the maintenance hatches and vision slots could do with a bit of thinning down, easily done with a small file. |
Instruction sheet | no instructions but a three-view drawing, but the small number of parts and simplicity of build really demands no more |
Decals | no decals |
General Impression & Note | All in all, a good kit, in my opinion. Good detail, easy to build, very original subject: the first model of the panzer IV, that saw real action |
