Marmon-Herrington
Name | Marmon-Herrington CTLS-4TAY US light tank T14/T16 /Item No. 010/ |
Producer | Giesbers models, The Netherlands |
Packing | Carton box with color photo on the top |
Type of kit | Resin kit |
Quality | This 1/76 casting is marvelous. The turret and superstructure are hollow cast with open hatches so figures can be added. The tracks are resin lengths that can be bent around the wheels after heating in hot water. The wheels have very good detail. Cleanup of the parts looks to be easy and straightforward. |
Instruction sheet | The instructions consist of a five side and overhead view drawings of the complete model. It seems that the main visible difference between the T14 and T-16 is a single hull mg rather than three on the T16. A good modeler can figure out all the part's locations from the diagrams though an exploded-view type of instructions would help very much. No decals or markings suggestions are supplied. |
Decals | no |
General Impression & Note | The T-14/T16 tank
was 4-ton, two person light tank specifically built as a Lend Lease vehicle for China and
for the Netherlands East Indies. Armor was thin and riveted. Production began
in 1942 and totaled 240 vehicles. It had a vertical volute suspension like the later
M3 and M4 tanks. Use in the US Army was limited. I thank Milan and I thank Giesbers Model Company for giving me
this kit to review. I like this kit so far. A very unique subject. A
construction review of this model will follow in this upcoming year. |
