Soviet heavy tank IS-3 ”Stalin” in 1/72 scale

Name IS-3 ”Stalin” (Item No. 701)
Producer  Roden, Ukraine
Packing Carton box with color picture and camouflage
Type of kit Plastic parts + rubber tracks
Quality

In the box you will find two sprue frames with high quantity of very fine detailed parts. They are moulded in high quality without any flash, sprue marks or similar defects. All part are useful without any modification, except too thick holders on the turret which should be better to replace with new made of wire. The plastic parts have only one ”serious” disadvantage – all three hatches are moulded as closed. J The rubber tracks are item that is hated by most of modellers. Nevertheless the tracks included in this kit seems to be useful because they are made of fine flexible rubber that can be simply shaped.

Instruction sheet includes historical and technical description, graphic assembly instructions and painting guide
Decals for four versions – Soviet Guard, Egypt, Poland and China
General Impression  This kit is the first AFV kit of this producer but I can say that it is excellent piece and its assembly shouldn’t do any problem. Therefore I can recommend not only to skilled modellers but also to beginners.
Note This heavy tank was designed and first pieces were produced during late period of WW2 but not so quickly to get them in operation during last months of this conflict. According my info these tanks got in battle during Soviet intervention to Hungary (1956) as well as during Middle East wars where Egyptians used them during Sues Crisis (1956) and Six day war (1967).
