BT-42 in 1/72 scale

Name Assault howitzer BT-42 (No.339)
Producer  UM, Ukraine
Packing  Soft cardboard box with side opening
Type of kit Plastic kit of Finnish WWII vehicle (small PE fret included)
Quality

The kit (same as original vehicle) is based on previously released BT-7 light tank. New are only parts of massive turret with 114mm howitzer and boxes on fenders. After first look into box, kit looks very good. I have only minor complains. There are missing rivets on parts 17D and 18D. Finnish BT-42's also had very shortened front fenders, so You must
adjust parts 74B and 75B. Extra caution is necessary during work with photoetched mesh cover over engine and muzzle brake.

Instruction sheet Detailed and well-arranged
Decals   Three versions - Soviet captured and two Finnish. Here are my biggest complains. Finnish svastikas should be black instead of blue. Painting instructions are also a little bit mixed up and suggest to place different numbers on three-colored Finnish wartime vehicle. On the other hand, for overall green postwar vehicle there is number Ps.511-19. But there
are pictures of this vehicle in three-colors scheme captured by Red Army and I doubt, that they later returned it. So I will find black svastikas somewhere else and use number Ps.511-19 for my kit.
General impression & note It is very nice kit of rare vehicle. I recommend two websites for references. You can see details of BT-42 preserved at Parola museum at
