Carro Veloce CV 33 in 1/72
scale
Name
CV 33 tankette or
light tank /also known as L3/33 tankette/
Manufacturer
DOC Models of Italy
Packing
Heat-sealed plastic bag within paperboard box. The box
is larger than DOC resin model kits due to the larger sprue. The box art
is great and is a great help in detailing and camouflage options.
Kit type
Thirty four 1/72 scale injection molded olive-green
styrene model kit parts. Two soft-plastic band tracks.
Quality
Overall detail and fidelity of the parts are good. All
the features to the vehicle exterior are there including handtools, spare
roadwheels and the jack. The two crew hatches are molded open though
unfortunately the underside to the hatches are not accurately detailed.
The roadwheels & bogies are molded as one piece and are well done, though
the rear of the bogies are flat and not detailed. There is no interior
detail but with several crew figures this should not be a great
deficiency.
Instructions
Instruction Sheet: Instructions are very good,
showing progressive assembly. Painting and markings instructions are very
good as well.
Decals
Water slide decals included for a half dozen AFV's,
though only three different vehicles are shown in the instructions. I
presume this means that more vehicles are planned.

Note
I like this
model, which is DOC's first kit in injection molded plastic. It
has got to be one of the tiniest 1/72 scale models I have. This
tankette was designed in the mid-1930's and proved relatively
successful against poorly armed tribesman in Africa. It served
the Italian army in Africa, the Balkans and in Russia. It also
served in the Hungarian Army in Russia and with the Austrian
Army before that country was absorbed into Nazi Germany.
