1)Construction of the interior: fit parts 8, 11, 18, 21,
25, 28, 29 as well as P24, P30 and P32 as indicated in the Sd.Kfz. 250/1 instruction sheet. Do not use
parts 9, 12, 15, 19, 32, 33.
2)Now construct the mortar as shown below. Note that there
are small PE rings to be added to the legs of the mortar.
3)Then add the two seats included in the conversion set
and position them as shown in the image below. In between these two seats you should add the flat base plate for the mortar.
4) Once the base plate and seats are added you can
cement the mortar in place. Alternatively you can also choose not to cement the mortar as this
weapon was often employed outside of the vehicle. A separate base plate is provided in the conversion set. If
you mount the mortar in the vehicle, the mortar base plate for normal use was stowed on the outside of the vehicle,
on the right hand side next to the rear door.
5) The Sdkfz.250/7 also carried ammunition for the
mortar, a quantity of ammo boxes have been provided. Usually these were stowed in the back of the
vehicle, behind the mortar against the door, but there was no specific arrangement so you are free to add
these according to your own wishes. Several of the ammo boxes supplied are in the open position, you can
fit in the provided mortar rounds. These rounds need to have the stabilization fins added, for this PE parts
are provided. For each round you need two PE parts, each part must be bent in the middle in a 90° angle so that
when combining both parts you get a ‘+’ shape with each angle being 90°
6) From here onward you can continue the rest of the
assembly according to basic kit instructions. You should not mount the front MG and gun shield as
these would interfere with the firing of the mortar.
