Skoda LT 35 /Panzer 35 (t)/ in 1/76 scale

Name Pz.35 (t)
Producer  OSTMODELS, Australia
Packing Plastic bag with paper tablet
Type of kit Resin castings
Quality The kit contains few bigger parts: the body cast with mudguards as one part, two parts of tracked chassis /again all together/ and the turret with separated hatch and gun barrel. There are also some smaller parts / hooks, lights, jack, antennae holder, two machine-guns and five cans /for vehicles in German service/ in the bag.

I’d like to sum up this kit from two general points of view:

Accuracy - The kit with its proportions is relatively good small copy of original tank. I’ve got only three basic carps. The rear part of the turret seems to me too round, this part isn’t exactly correct in my opinion. Further mistake is too delicate body of exhaust but it can be easily corrected. The greatest mistake of kit is the chassis without any doubts. The chassis of real LT-35 /Pz.35/ is relatively complicated. Therefore Ostmodels decision to release it in two simplified parts only can’t bring positive result. Also general dimensions of the chassis seem to incorrect for this scale /but I haven’t take exact measures/. The road wheels are somehow too close each other er. I’ve got a feeling (but it is only my impression) that producer used the road wheels or maybe whole chassis from ESCI 1/72 kit in terms of simplification

Quality of castings - quality of details on the kit parts this model is relatively high. The rivet lines are straight and first-rate made, as well some the hatches and other fine details. Unfortunately the surface of bigger parts almost everywhere full of hundreds of micro-bubbles. It will probably be real test of nerves and terrible work for any experienced modeller (and what about me….) to remove these bubbles especially because of the rivets that are almost everywhere.

General Impression & Note I guess it will take lot of work to complete good ”show” model out of this kit but I can’t imagine how to build good ”contest” model of it. On the other hand I think that if you will invest your time and nerves you can get relatively nice copy of LT-35 /Pz.35/ in 1/76 scale.

So, until old ESCI Skoda 35 kit would not come re-released or ”nameless” Czech producer would not come with new kit of this Czech tank served in several European armies than we will have to try to build as much good model as possible out of this kit from Tasmania.

I can give you small advice in the end. You have to prepare good modelling tools, enough sills and also portion of masochism in case high standard kits injected of plastic are your cap of tea and your putty tube hasn’t been open yet.J
