Sd.Kfz. 251/21 ”Drilling”
& T-34 Bergepanzer with 2 cm ”Drilling”
conversion sets in 1/72
T-34 ”Drilling” is really rare
filed modification. I suppose only one existed serving in SS-Jagdpanzer
Abt. 561 in 1945 according to reference article I have found in older
Modell-Fan magazine. Some modelling references on Sd.Kfz.
251/21 are available at http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Pit/3515/251/251-21.htm
. We would like to thank Kora Models for
free sample sets!

Quality
Conversion set Sd.Kfz. 251/21
is designed for Hasegawa kit Sd.Kfz. 251 D but can be used
also for ESCI /Italery/ ”C” because the first ”21s”
were born mounted on older vehicles in filed workshops. Set
T-34 Drilling is designed for all 1/72 scale T-34 kits
available on market /AER, EE and Revell. Nevertheless I would
recommend Revell kit because of ”late” wheels that obtain
on original vehicle. Both sets include same resin parts of MG
151, etched sheet with gun shield and armored extension and
two grouting points for barrels. T-34 set includes resin case
with accessories and nice wooden rod for beam. All resin parts
are well cast with no any bubbles and only little fine flesh
on few parts. The only one problem you will have to solve
during assembly of this kit is how remove massive sprues.
Etched sets are very nice but ”universal” it means you
will have to cut some parts of armored extension to get is
shorter according to instructions! The grouting points can
simply be a 15 mm as well as 20 mm version barrels because of
is minimal dimension difference in scale. Be careful when you
will cut them in part according to instructions because they
are really sharp! Wooden rod included in T-34 set has
realistic color so you don’t need to paint it!

General Impression
& Note
The first look into both boxes is very
good. I suppose that the assembly of described conversions will be simple
and they will fit well on base kits. The results should be nice models of
late war AA version of Sd.Kfz.251 and unique captured T-34 armed with
triple MG 151.
