Soviet tank T-72M1 in 1/72 scale
Name
T-72M1 (Item No. YH 165)
Producer
Galaxy (Fujian) toys
co.LTD, China
Packing
Cardboard
box, picture of T72 and brief description
Type
of kit
injection
molded plastic
Quality
Castings laid out
onto two sprues, with hull base separate, vynal tracks loose in box with
glue (83 parts). quality of parts is not bad,not as crisp as Revell or
Hasegawa but a lot better than some eastern European producers. there is
very little flash, detail is in abundance with many raised and sunken
features, comes with side skirts, commanders hatch is separate and looks
like it can be modeled open or shut, machine gun looks ok and roughly in
scale. Smoke grenades look a little poor as do the light protectors and
its a shame they molded the tow cable to the body, all in all it looks to
be a kit that will build up well into M1 version.

Instructions
come with a picture of what appears to be a 1/35th scale T-72M1 all made
up and looking grand, this is not the model in the box, and a mass of
Chinese and English words inside there is a simple but fairly easy to
follow step by step guide, six diagrams in all, and on the back
side a one version colour chart.
Decals
Decals are
the slip and slide type(not the sticky back plastic ones you get with
leclerc) are of average/poor quality, and are available for four
versions: Poland, Czech, East Germany, Soviet guards .
General Impression
I have all of the Galaxy kits, and I
think this is the best one although it may be slightly large for 1/72 , I
do however..... like all of the other galaxy kits HATE the tracks they are
the same ones that are in all the kits and for some reason become a sticky
mess when painted and fitted. but as for now this is the only plastic T72
on the market, forget the old ACE one.
Note
As far as I know Galaxy are no
longer producing this range of kits, they are very hard to find in western
Europe, so if you get the chance to pick one up get it (then send it to
me) if building I would most definitely change the tracks for some hard
plastic ones other than that it would build up into quite a nice kit
straight from the box.
